About NHS dental services

Được đăng bởi Heliosvn Monday, July 26, 2010

On 1 April 2006, the NHS introduced its reform of dental services, since it began in 1948.
These reforms aimed at improving access to NHS dental services and replace the old complicated system load with three simple, standard price bands.
Simplify load

There are now three standard charges for all NHS dental treatments. This makes it easier to know how much you must pay in May and ensures that you are charged for NHS care (rather than private care).
The maximum amount for a complex course of treatment was 198 pounds.
Most courses of treatment cost £ 16.50 or £ 45.60.
You get free NHS dental if you meet the exemption criteria. For more information, see the Help section dental expenses.

Better access to local services

Your Primary Care Trust (PCT) is now responsible for local NHS dental services. This means:
money must be used for local dental care,
agree contracts with NHS dentists for services that local people need,
can influence where new practices are in place and
is responsible for emergency and after hours care in your area.
If a dentist moves, closes a practice or reduces the amount of NHS dentistry he or she gives money to provide this service remains with your PCT for reinvestment in NHS dentistry for the community.
Over time this allows the PCT to NHS dental services better for people in your area.
